About Franciscan Soy Candles
Franciscan Friars Conventual in Western New York handcraft Franciscan Soy Candles. What started as a hobby for Br. Andre became a ministry supporting the Franciscan Charity Fund in 2012.
Today, with Br. Andre as an advisor, Br. Brian and Fr. Francis have taken over handcrafting these beautiful, wood wick, soy candles.
Each candle is custom made to your specifications. First, choose from our wide variety of label designs, or upload a photo and create your own. Then, choose from our 45 delightful fragrances to fully customize your candle.
Franciscan Soy Candles feature a 3-part wood wick system. Wood wicks create a warm ambiance and release the candle’s fragrance better and faster than traditional cotton wicks. Each soy candle comes in a 12oz Libbey Status glass jar, along with a lid. Candles are shipped with a specially designed gift box. Franciscan Soy Candles have an estimated 40 hours of burn time.
About Franciscan Friars Conventual
Peace and all Good from the Franciscan Brotherhood! The Conventual Franciscans (sometimes referred to as "The Grey Franciscans" due to the color of our habits) are one of the three branches of the First Order of St. Francis. The word Conventual is derived from the Latin convenire, "to come together"; hence we live together in "convents" or friaries. Our Order is spread throughout the world and includes about 4500 priests and brothers who are all commonly called Friars. Our Franciscan brotherhood includes four provinces in North America, and a jurisdiction in the UK and Ireland. We wear a black or gray habit with a simple three-knotted cord representing our Vows of Poverty, Chastity, and Obedience.
The St. Francis of Assisi Friary, makers of Franciscan Soy Candles, is located in Hamburg, NY on the campus of St. Francis High School.
The Spiritual Center of the Order is in Assisi, Italy, where our Friars care for the Basilica of St. Francis, which includes his tomb. A photo of the Basilica of St. Francis is the backdrop of this website.
